Let us know you're comingIn this class you will develop your own character, a personal alter ego, avatar, that reflects on your personal journey.
Asia Scudder, visual artist, will share her 2020 story of how she and her now created, avatar bunny, ‘Rihana’, (who became the heroin in her daily life) offers whimsical and objective reflections on the pressures of daily life. Scudder will speak to how the process of creating Rihana helped her to navigate the ups and downs of last year. With drawing instruction provided, and an open, welcoming environment with story- sharing from participants during class, she will help you create your very own avatar! If you enjoy journaling, drawing, or just note-taking on things of personal interest, then this class will take you to that next step forward in writing and illustrating your own life’s journey.
This event will be live streamed by the artist!
Artist Bio: Asia Scudder, Sculptor, has been described as a wire artist who creates “drawings” in baling wire. Her creative expression explores 3-dimensional structure and form in the twisting, tying, and crimping of wire, resulting in whimsical expression and her well-established signature use of line and design. Scudder’s 27-year history as a professional artist has brought her many solo and group exhibits, resulting in multiple sales of her work nationally and internationally. Top honors include Inclusion in Poetry Bunker at Venice Biennale (2000); Studio residency at the Vermont Studio Center (2012); several statewide grants and awards, including Best in Sculpture category in New England Regional Arts exhibit at the Newburyport Arts Association (2017). She mixes her passion for raising awareness of the arts alongside the importance of community-building in her approach to her art and work.
For the safety of our visitors and staff, we will be requiring masks at this event!
