Come to CultureHouse for a lunch and learn discussion and conversation with Jeannette, co-founder & director of a nonprofit community farm.
Did you know Peabody is a food desert? Why is that and what does this mean for families who live here? And what can we do about it? Come to CultureHouse for a lunch and learn discussion and conversation with Jeannette co-founder and director of the nonprofit Newhall Fields Community Farm. Newhall Fields strengthens the community by creating access to healthy food through sustainable agriculture, volunteer-powered farming, and outdoor education right here in the heart of Peabody.
Bio: With roots in Peabody since 1991, Jeannette, along with her husband Pete, have raised their four children. She feels lucky to call Peabody home and enjoys walking her dog around town and on nearby beaches. Jeannette loves learning about the intersections of food, farming, community-building, justice, equity, arts and creativity, and outdoor education. The best part about this community-based farming project is all the people she meets and the partnerships they are creating in the community. Jeannette, with co-founders Jacqui Richard and Rebecca Ingalls, formed the non-profit Newhall Fields Community Farm in partnership with the City of Peabody in March 2019. With a passion for growing highly nutritious food, caring for the land, the healing power of nature, and equitable access to healthy food they have been cultivating the land for and with the community row by row.
For the safety of our visitors and staff, we will be requiring masks at this time!
